Ponds & Waterfalls

Swimming Pool Features

This customer had an existing pond that was improperly installed. The previous installer piled flat slate loosely around the edge. The waterfall was a mass of loose stone that shifted and caused water to leak. Both of these are techniques used by people who give a low price to get the job. The first construction slideshow has a photo of the old pond structure at the beginning.

I ripped everything out and saved the materials for reuse. The pond was enlarged to better fit the area and then refitted. There was no natural slope to build a waterfall from, so I created one. The customer's slate was reused, but natural round stone was installed to break up straight lines and give a more natural look.

This pond also had an existing pressure pot filter. (I don't recommend them.) They made the decision to reuse it as well. Before it had been sitting on the edge of the pool semi-concealed. I placed it on top of the falls where it would be easier for the customer to service. Then I built a western cedar and bamboo shelter for a cover.
There is a hidden pipe chase built into the falls to conceal all piping and supply lines.

The first slideshow is the finished project. The next three slideshows are of the construction. The construction slides will end when they get to the end. Refresh the page to start each slideshow from the beginning.

This customer had a pet longhorn steer name "Mr. Harry". He was pretty cool so I included photos of him as well.    Larry
