The Devil's Hole is a trail that goes down into Linville Gorge. Not quite sure why the name Devil's Hole, but it is quite steep. The route I have taken in the past is down Devil's Hole, cross Linville River to the trail and follow it downstream to where the bridge crosses over to Spence Ridge Trail. From there it is still a good hike down the forest road to where the trail head for Devil's Hole went in. A stop off can be made at Hawksbill along the road portion for an evening view. This is a pretty strenuous hike and should be only done by the highly motivated. The only photos I have from this hike are winter photos.
