Happy Naked Frog Quotes

We have canoe and kayak outings that launch out of Lake Norman State Park. You show up with whatever snacks you want to take along, sunglasses a towel and a drink. I'll meet you there with everything else.

No experience needed. The more you want to get away from things the easier it is to paddle. I found this out myself when I got maxed out on stress last spring. I went to the park to get away from my problems and instead found a whole new outlook and way to deal with those problems. Sometimes you have to step out of your life to see things clearly; the whole forest for the trees approach.

Morning launches are best with Sunday morning being the ultimate. Weekdays are also a good time as motorboat traffic is minimal. I will go as far as you want or we can stay within sight of the landing. The longest excursion is to the marsh and is in the backwaters of the park. There are no houses, only occasional people on trails on the shoreline. Early mornings are usually pretty much boat free.

On a typical outing I paddle for awhile and then stop at one of the many sandy beaches to swim and float around. These areas have gently sloping sandy bottoms that are ideal for relaxing in. One location has large boulders cascading down the hillside. This makes a great place to climb and sit in silence. This particular part of the park has no trails or roads near the spot so it is isolated and very quiet except for the sound of the waterfall in the distance at the park lake dam.

I will provide life jackets and also keep a large jug of water. You may bring your own drinks, but please; no alcohol. It is against park rules and I think counterproductive to clearing your mind and getting into the moment. You want to relax and take a new viewpoint towards life, not forget about it for a day and then head back with the same attitude!

Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by and adult or guardian. All persons will be required to sign a waiver of liability. Cell phones are best turned off. I have a waterproof box to store them in.

We have decided that all outings will be a part of the Happy Naked Frog Ministry and will be by donation only. Fellowship in nature is healing emotionally and spiritually. It doesn't seem right to set a fee for helping others in a search for peace. This opens the opportunity to those who may be limited financially. It also gives us the chance to trust completely in God to meet our needs as we try to do what we feel we have been called to do.

We hope this will encourage those who are searching for answers to join us in God's Chapel for fellowship, meaningful conversation and support.

"For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God has made they can clearly see his invisible qualities, his eternal power and divine nature."  - Romans 1:20

Each person gets a waterproof box to use for cameras, wallets, cell phones etc. Also, waterproof floatable bags will be available for extra clothing and towels.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time on Lake Norman. Larry is an excellent guide, very thorough and professional. He showed us around the lake and explained the history and wildlife of the area. It was a totally enjoyable experience and we will definitely do it again.   - George A.  Charlotte, NC

I would like to thank Larry for teaching me a lot today about kayaks. I would highly recommend getting with Larry if you are considering a kayak and he can advise you about what style to get. I bought my kayak and knew nothing about it when I met up with Larry this morning. We had a great day on the water. Larry showed me rather than just telling me about the right procedure to paddle, to land a boat , and even how to get in and out of the kayak without upsetting the boat. We had a great time going back to a beaver dam and even tried a little fishing while back there. The water was warm, the company was great, the herons and egrets were flying around us and the learning will be something I can use continually. If you would like a great day on the water, you can't go wrong with the Happy Naked Frog.  -John L. Troutman NC
