Here are some photos of our ponds. You have heard the expression "The shoemaker's kids don't have any shoes". Well, the pond builder doesn't have finished ponds. Part of the reason for that is because I keep expanding instead of finishing. I halfway completed one pond and saw a need for a different style pond next to the house. After that came the pergola. Then I started the medicine wheel. After that I added another waterfall to the first pond. Next came a small deck overlooking the first pond. I am also building faux boulder steps going from the patio area to the upper yard.
Anyway, much of it is complete and ready to enjoy. Spring time brings in pond frogs, tree frogs and toads to breed. On rainy nights you can't hardly hear each other well enough to talk on the deck. It is an awesome chorus of croaking, chirping and calling.
In the winter the plants die back and the pond goes to sleep. Summertime brings swarms of dragonflies, lotus blossoms and lilies. Cattails and water iris sprout and grow tall, swaying in the breeze. The fish pop the top of the water looking for food and chase each other playing in the plants and rocks.
I have had a fascination with ponds since I was a child. It always amazed me how a small body of water was a world in itself. I am still just as mesmerized as then. Anyway, enjoy the photos of our ponds and I will add more as I get more completed. -Larry

I will add more pond photos on a photo page later. Thanks for looking and pass it on to anyone you think may be interested in having a pond. Tell them to call Coov at the Happy Naked Frog!
